The Sunday Slide: Eyes on the Big East

It’s a day of celebration. Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all who celebrate.

It’s also a week of celebration for lacrosse fans. Happy Postseason.

The ACC and Big Ten begin their respective conference tournaments this week, and it’s nearly that time again. May is around the corner.

As North Carolina, Boston College and Northwestern have seemingly separated themselves from the rest of the pack, others are lurking in close proximity. Can Florida make its second run to championship weekend in as many years? Can Princeton shake off a loss to Penn and keep its high-flying offense going? Can Johns Hopkins shake some tough losses to stick with the Big Ten’s best?

Late April and May are the time to answer those questions. We’ll start getting those answers soon.

RANDOM OBSERVATIONS

The Big East is possibly the most interesting conference battle to watch in the coming weeks that nobody is talking about. Denver, Villanova and Georgetown are all 4-1 in the Big East, with UConn right behind at 3-2. The regular-season finale for the conference is next Saturday, and it includes Georgetown at UConn and Villanova at Denver. Must-watch TV, in my opinion.

The Princeton women are highlight machines. All they do are BTB beauties and crisp offense. In terms of sheer enjoyment, watching Princeton play offense is up there on my list.
