The Katrina Dowd era of Brown women’s lacrosse is off to a good start.

Three days after opening the season with a 15-14 victory at UMass — their first over a nationally ranked opponent since 2020 — the Bears never trailed in a 14-10 win at Albany on Tuesday.

Attacker Mia Mascone had three goals and an assist to lead Brown. Five different players scored at least two goals. Midfielders Julia Ford and Emmie Lau and defender Paige Gillen each contributed five draw controls.

A former star player at Northwestern and with the U.S. Women’s National Team, Dowd has had a winding career path as a coach with stops as an assistant at Syracuse, North Carolina (twice) and Army as a head coach at Oregon and now Brown.
