An NCAA championship game rematch between Notre Dame and Duke on Sunday headlines the men’s lacrosse slate this weekend.
Our “Lacrosse Gameday” team will be onsite with an all-access pass at Koskinen Stadium, where the host Blue Devils also will honor the 2014 NCAA championship team and commemorate the 10th anniversary of their triumph.
The runner-up that year? Notre Dame, of course.
Watch on ACC Network, but also follow on our social channels (@USALacrosseMag) with live updates from Durham.
Here’s one sentence each on 10 games to watch this weekend. Rankings are per the USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20. Check out our TV Listings too. All times Eastern.
St. John’s (4-7, 1-0) at No. 11 Denver (7-2, 1-0) - Friday 8 p.m. (Pioneers All-Access)
Consensus in the St. John’s locker room after beating Marquette for its first Big East win since 2016: “That was cool; let’s do it again.”
Ohio State (6-5, 1-1) at No. 8 Maryland (6-3, 1-1) - Saturday 12 p.m. (BTN+)
There’s no love lost between the Big Ten rivals, especially not after last year’s Glove Gate.
No. 20 North Carolina (6-4, 0-0) at No. 2 Virginia (9-1, 0-0) - Saturday 12 p.m. (ESPNU)
The Tar Heels’ inexperience has shown in consecutive fourth-quarter letdowns against High Point and Army, but no one’s questioning their talent and potential to make noise in the ACC — especially with the revival of the conference tournament.
No. 12 Penn (7-3, 3-0) at No. 10 Yale (6-2, 2-1) - Saturday 1 p.m. (ESPN+)
Goalie Emmet Carroll (17 saves in 12-11 double OT win over Cornell) and defenseman Brendan Lavelle (four caused turnovers) are earning praise week in and week out for their consistently excellent performances for the Quakers, the lone unbeaten in Ivy League play.
Saint Joseph’s (6-3, 1-0) at UMass (5-4, 1-0) - Saturday 1 p.m. (ESPN+)
St. Joe’s sure looked like the A-10 favorite in a convincing 15-7 win over a High Point team that came in with all sorts of swagger after stunning UNC.
No. 5 Penn State (7-2, 1-1) at No. 6 Johns Hopkins (7-3, 2-0) - Saturday 2 p.m. (ESPNU)
With starting defensemen Jack Posey and Kevin Parnham out due to injuries, the Nittany Lions can ill afford the kind of possession imbalance they faced last week when they lost seven of eight fourth-quarter faceoffs and Luke Wierman propelled Maryland to six unanswered goals and a comeback win.
Colgate (6-4, 3-1) at No. 3 Army (8-1, 3-1) - Saturday 3 p.m. (ESPN+)
This Patriot League is something else this spring, and no one would be stunned if LSM Max Yates (23 caused turnovers) and midfielder Hunter Drouin (25 goals) gave the Raiders enough juice between the restraining lines to pull the upset.
Bryant (6-3, 2-1) at Albany (4-5, 3-0) - Saturday 7 p.m. (ESPN+)
Joel White throwback Jake Piseno (seven goals, four assists, 40 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers) has become must-see TV with the way the Great Danes are deploying the do-everything long pole offensively and how disruptive he is defensively.
No. 1 Notre Dame (6-1, 1-0) at No. 4 Duke (10-2, 0-1) - Sunday 12 p.m. (ACC Network)
The Blue Devils are playing for the first time in 11 days, though a long layoff did not lead to rust for the Fighting Irish last week when they scored six first-quarter goals in a win over Syracuse in front of 5,000 fans at Arlotta Stadium.
Rutgers (6-4, 0-2) at No. 15 Michigan (6-4, 1-1) - Sunday 7 p.m. (Big Ten Network)
The NASCAR offense has stalled out as Rutgers, which has lost three of four, looks to get back on track in Ann Arbor against a Michigan team that is also 1-3 in its last four games.
