The Mustang Classic, the premier Division III men's lacrosse event in the nation, has a new name.

Stevenson University, host of the event since 2011, officially renamed the regular-season showcase the Callum Robinson Mustang Classic to honor the legacy of Stevenson alum Callum Robinson, who was killed in Mexico in May along with his brother, Jake, and their friend, Jack Carter Rhoad.

Additionally, Robinson will be inducted into Stevenson's Dick Watts Hall of Fame.

Robinson was a 2015 graduate of Stevenson who helped the Mustangs to an NCAA championship in 2013. The Australian import was a USILA first-team All-American who eventually carved out roles in Major League Lacrosse, the Premier Lacrosse League and with Team Australia in international competition.

"In my 30 years as athletic director, I have never encountered a student-athlete that truly embodied what it meant to be a part of Villa Julie and Stevenson more than Robinson," Stevenson AD Brett Adams said. "He is the reason coaches coach, professors teach, and why the campus community can come together. He was one of the best teammates and student-athletes that Stevenson University could have ever asked for, which is why we want to honor his legacy forever."

This year's Callum Robinson Mustang Classic will be held Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15, and include the who's who of Division III men's lacrosse — Christopher Newport, Dickinson, Gettysburg, Hamilton, Lynchburg, RIT, St. Lawrence, Stevenson, Tufts and Washington and Lee.

Nine of the 10 teams are currently ranked or considered in the USA Lacrosse Top 20.
