Take a bow, Ryan Doherty.

The UAlbany sophomore did something that only the Thompson brothers had ever done for the Great Danes. That automatically puts you in rarified air.

Doherty deposited nine goals (tying the UAlbany single-game record held by both Lyle and Miles Thompson) in a 17-12 win over Hobart. Doherty added an assist for good measure. He shot 85.7 percent on goal.

Doherty scored three of UAlbany's first five goals and scored six by halftime. He scored three in a row in the third quarter  in less than four minutes to expand the lead to 14-6.

After scoring 10 goals all of last season, Doherty is now up to 19 in 2025.

DIVISION II

Connor Theriault, Tampa

The People’s Goalie has been blazing hot in his graduate year at Tampa after wrapping up a stellar career at Brown. Last week, he staved off an early onslaught of shots from Maryville, making 10 saves in the first half and 14 on the afternoon.

His play was the primary reason Tampa held a 5-2 halftime lead and that the Spartans were able to take control of the game.

Since a nine-save outing in the season opener, Theriault has stopped double-digit shots in the next seven. Theriault is stopping shots at a 62.6-percent clip for No. 2 Tampa.

DIVISION III

Travis Wagner, SUNY Cortland

Wagner stopped 17 shots (68 percent) against St. Lawrence in one of the biggest upsets yet in the Division III season. He followed that with a 12-save (54.5 percent) showing three days later in a one-goal win over Skidmore.

Wagner has been a wall during a 3-1 start for the Red Dragons. Even in their one loss — a 9-1 season-opening stumble against RPI — he made 19 saves (67.9 percent).
