Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix for Tuesday, April 18

1. Record-setting day for Sarah Gresham highlights VaTech win over Furman
   Freshman Sarah Gresham became the Hokies’ single-season draw leader as Virginia Tech toppled Furman 17-11 in Monday night’s only Division I game. Gresham corralled 14 draws and now has 100 on the season, passing Tristan McGinley's 2018 mark of 96 draw controls. Olivia Vergano led the Hokies with four goals. 2. Significant shakeups don’t affect No. 1 Orange in women’s rankings
   Big Ten upsets led to massive shakeups in the Nike/USAL Division I women’s rankings. But a win over defending champion UNC made Syracuse the no-doubt-about-it No. 1. See the full top 20.

3. Division I men on Orange alert.
   Don’t look now, but the unraked-to-start-the-season Orange is on the rise. The young ‘Cuse squad downed UNC with last-minute heroics from Michael Leo and is up two spots to No. 14 in this week’s Nike/USAL Division I men’s rankings. For the first time in a long time, the No. 1 team is the same as last week: Notre Dame was idle this week, so it’s sort of a technicality. Here’s the entire list.

4. Women’s, men’s Division II have polar-opposite narratives
   The top six women’s Division II teams showed why they’re considered the best in the country with dominant performances last weekend. There are no changes to those spots in this week’s top 20. Huge upsets have altered the Division II men’s top 20, but Le Moyne is still the top dog.

5. Gettysburg men, Wesleyan women on the rise in Division III
   The top six remained the same in the Division III men’s rankings, but Gettysburg surged four spots from No. 11 to No. 7. Wesleyan made similar moves, leaping from No. 8 to No. 5 on the women’s side after downing formerly No. 4 Tufts.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• Our thoughts are with Lindenwood’s Noah Berger, who sustained a traumatic brain injury after being hit by a vehicle while walking back to his dorm on Saturday, per the team’s social media. There’s a GoFundMe fundraiser, which has already raised more than $65,000.

• Canada announced the 26 players still in the running for final roster spots for the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship, set to begin June 21 in San Diego.

• No. 9 Georgetown travels to Loyola for Tuesday night lacrosse.

• After upending Michigan and cracking the top 20 of the Nike/USAL women’s rankings, No. 20 Johns Hopkins re-takes the field for an in-state bout with Towson.
