A 1-5 start to the season is now completely in the rearview mirror for Towson, which won its seventh straight game on Saturday against Fairfield and locked down the top spot in the CAA tournament — both of which helped the Tigers enter the latest USA Lacrosse Division I Men's Top 20 at No. 16.

Highly touted in the preseason, the Tigers took a hit with their slow start. But their recent surge has included wins over every CAA teams that crossed their path, plus Loyola in a non-conference tilt.

Towson closes its regular-season schedule Saturday at Hofstra.

Elsewhere in the Top 20, Duke is climbing as Syracuse is falling — a direct result of a Blue Devils win over the Orange this weekend. Notre Dame is the ACC team making the the most notable move this week, as the Fighting Irish are inching closer to the top five at No. 7.

Two other teams have moved from the tier of considered teams into the formal Top 20 — No. 17 Virginia and No. 19 Boston U.
