Delaware Men's Lacrosse to Join Atlantic-10

Delaware’s men’s lacrosse team has a new home.

The school’s athletic department is leaving the Coastal Athletic Association for Conference USA beginning with the 2025-26 academic year — part of a transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision level — leaving the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams without a home.

Delaware announced on Tuesday that it will join the Atlantic 10 for men’s lacrosse, effective for the 2026 season. No announcement has been made about the women’s lacrosse program’s future conference plans.

"The University of Delaware has appreciated our 23 seasons in the CAA immensely," said Delaware men's lacrosse head coach Ben DeLuca. "As we conclude our tenure in the CAA following the upcoming 2025 season, we look forward to a new and exciting chapter for our program in the Atlantic 10 Conference," DeLuca continued. "The A-10 features several very competitive, nationally ranked teams and a few familiar opponents. We are grateful for this opportunity and excited for the future of our program."

Delaware went 9-5 this past season, falling to Towson in the CAA championship game. That came on the heels of back-to-back CAA titles and NCAA tournament appearances, including a trip to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2022.

The Blue Hens become the Atlantic 10’s seventh men's lacrosse team joining the University of Richmond, St. Bonaventure University, Saint Joseph's University, and affiliate members High Point University, Hobart College, and University of Massachusetts. 

Saint Joseph’s, a frequent opponent on Delaware's schedule in the recent past, won the A-10 championship this season.
