Albany’s 13-11 comeback win over Yale was achieved almost single-handedly.

With the Great Danes down 9-3 at halftime, senior midfielder Sarah Martin scored seven of their 10 second-half goals, five of which came in the final 14:03 within an eight-goal run while the Bulldogs were held scoreless.

“Sarah Martin put the team on her back,” Albany coach John Battaglino said of Martin, who has been named the Epoch/US Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Martin finished with 10 goals, setting a new program record for goals scored in a single game. She surpassed the previous record of eight, shared by Jess Antelmi and Melanie Sosnowski, who met the mark in 2013 and 2010, respectively.

Martin also added one assist for 11 points, which tied the program record for points in a single game held by Maureen Keggins (2015) and Rachael Burek (2013).

Albany next plays two games in one week, facing No. 6 Syracuse on Monday, Feb. 27 and No. 1 North Carolina on Friday, March 3, the latter taking place at the new US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
