Lacrosse has always been my passion. However, it wasn’t until a few months ago that I realized I could turn my passion into my full-time profession.
Since playing in the backyard every day in my hometown of Duxbury, Mass., I knew I wanted to play lacrosse in college. I was fortunate enough to do so at Georgetown. I received a top-notch education while also competing at the highest level.
Toward the end of my senior year, I started thinking about my options after college. I was in the business school at Georgetown, so my natural inclination was to pursue a job in finance like everyone else around me. But deep down, I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the sports industry, and in particular, lacrosse. I had no idea what to do. Would I take a job in finance or a related industry, or would I take the risk and chase a job that would make me truly happy?
After a good run at Georgetown, I was given the opportunity to play for the Boston Cannons while completing a real estate internship. Considering I grew up in the Boston area, this was a cherry on top. Things seemed like they were starting to fall in place for me.
I noticed an opening for a sales and marketing position at Trilogy Lacrosse. The job was ideal for me. I could combine the skills and knowledge I gained from business school at Georgetown with my love for the sport of lacrosse. I also was excited about the position because it meant I could help kids have some of the same opportunities that I have playing lacrosse.
When I made the trip to New York for an interview, I was immediately impressed by everyone I met and knew Trilogy would be a good fit for me. The company was full of smart and organized people who worked really well together. But the biggest thing that stood out was how passionate they were for the sport and their profession.
As a young kid, I always knew I had the chance to play lacrosse at the collegiate level, but never imagined I would be able to turn lacrosse into a career.
