Last season, Division III men’s lacrosse fans saw one of the greatest runs in recent memory when Wesleyan took down Cortland, Cabrini, Tufts, RIT and Salisbury to win its first national championship.

That win helped vault Wesleyan into the conversation of the elite teams in Division III, but it will have a target on its back entering the 2019 season. Not only are the Cardinals the defending champions, but they’re the top team in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Men’s Preseason Top 20.

Three of the teams (No. 2 Salisbury, No. 4 Tufts and No. 5 RIT) that Wesleyan took down last May are featured in the top five. Amherst also poses a threat at No. 3, coming off a 15-4 season.
