Loyola nearly let this one slip away.

The No. 9 Greyhounds took a four-goal lead with 12:08 to play Wednesday night at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, but Penn was far from finished. The Quakers won the next two draws and scored on both possessions, then scored a few minutes after to go down by just one goal.

With the pressure mounting, Elli Kluegel scored with 40 seconds left to give Loyola some much-needed breathing room in a 12-10 win. Loyola (3-0) got a career-high four goals from Sydni Black, and Livy Rosenzweig had three goals and two assists.

Penn (1-3) received four goals from Alyson Feeley — including two straight that cut the deficit to 11-10 with 6:39 to play.

MICHIGAN DEFENSE EXCEPTIONAL

One of the season’s early success stories continues, as No. 8 Michigan — which was unranked in the preseason — got four goals and two assists from Caitlin Muir and held its sixth straight opponent under 10 goals in a 15-6 win over High Point.

The game, played at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., was defined by a feisty Wolverines defense that has limited opponents to just about six goals per game in a 6-0 start to the spring.

NASLONSKI REACHES 200 POINTS IN RUTGERS ROUT

Taralyn Naslonski became the fourth player in program history to reach 200 career points, as No. 14 Rutgers coasted past Monmouth 19-8 in Piscataway, N.J.

“Rutgers is such a big part of my life,” Naslonski said. “Having both of my parents and uncle go here, it's an honor to reach this milestone. But I couldn't have done it without the help of my teammates.”

Naslonski and Cassidy Spilis each scored five goals, and Saint Joseph’s transfer Stephanie Kelly contributed three assists. Rutgers, one of last season’s breakout teams, is 5-0 for the second time in program history.

Rutgers thoroughly dominated Monmouth (2-1) holding a 39-23 advantage on shot and a 20-10 advantage on draws.
