Gonzaga (D.C.), which had an 84-game WCAC winning streak snapped by St. John's (D.C.) in the conference championship game last year and whose loss to Paul VI (Va.) in April marked its first WCAC regular season defeat since 2009, avenged both foes to reclaim the title and rise four spots to No. 12 in the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25.

The Purple Eagles (17-3), whose defense held all opponents but No. 1 Culver Academy (Ind.) to single-digit scoring this season, defeated St. John's 12-9 in the semifinals last Thursday befor taking down Paul VI 10-7 in the final Monday night at Ludwig Field in College Park, Md. Senior midfielder Kyle Borda (Fairfield) led the way with four goals. 

Three new teams join the rankings this week, with Hingham (Mass.), Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) and Conestoga (Pa.) entering the fold at No. 21-23.

At the top, Culver (21-0) repeated as champion of the Midwest Lacrosse Challenge, throttling New Trier (Ill.), the second-ranked team in the Midwest region, 18-0 in the final.

1. Darien (Conn.), 13-0

The Blue Wave’s win streak now sits at 67 games after another impressive week. Darien posted a trio of wins over Trumbull (Conn.), 18-4, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), 11-10, and Greenwich (Conn.), 13-6. Logan McGovern and Brian Minicus each netted three goal and Sean Collins stopped 15 shots in the St. Anthony’s win. Previous: 1

2. Brunswick (Conn.), 13-0

The Bruins have been nearly untouchable this year. They’ve yet to allow more than eight goals in a game, and they’ve won each by five goals. Last week’s 9-4 win over Westminster (Conn.) was the first time this season the Bruins have scored less than 10 goals in a game. Brunswick also topped Choate Rosemary Hal (Conn.), 16-8, last week. 3. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), 13-3

The Friars went 3-1 over the last week. They posted easy wins over St. Dominic (N.Y.), 22-5, Niskayuna (N.Y.), 18-5, and Staples (Conn.), 18-8, but top-ranked Darien held off the Friars in an 11-10 decision. Brennan O’Neill netted three first-half goals in the loss. Previous: 3

4. Victor (N.Y.), 12-1

The Blue Devils move up the rankings after a trio of strong wins last week. They held on for a 10-9 win over previously unbeaten Webster Thomas (N.Y.) and then earned a 13-7 win over Fairport (N.Y.). Victor closed the week with a 15-7 win over Baldwinsville (N.Y.). Chayse Ierlan recorded 15 saves and Joey Pezzimenti finished with three goals and one assist in the win over Baldwinsville. 5. Ward Melville (N.Y.), 13-1

The Patriots posted two easy wins last week – 19-5 over Northport (N.Y.) and 17-1 over Sachem North (N.Y.). Matt Grillo totaled 11 goals and an assist in the two wins. Michael Giaquinto won 20 of 20 faceoffs in the Northport game. Previous: 5

6. Chaminade (N.Y.), 12-2

The Flyers rebounded from a loss to rival St. Anthony’s with a strong week. Chaminade topped Kellenberg (N.Y.), 18-6, St. Dominic (N.Y.), 19-3, and Manhasset (N.Y.), 10-8. Aidan Byrnes had five goals in the St. Dominic win. Previous: 8

7. Massapequa (N.Y.), 11-1

The Chiefs won two games last week. They secured a 21-1 win over Hicksville (N.Y.) and then ended the week with an 11-7 win over Port Washington (N.Y.). Matt McCarthy had five goals and one assist and Colin Gleason added two goals and two goals and six assists in the Hicksville win. Previous: 9

8. Smithtown West (N.Y.), 12-1

West rebounded from a loss to Ward Mellville to collect wins over West Islip (N.Y.), 10-6, and Riverhead (N.Y.), 17-8. Conor Calderone won 17 of 18 draws in the West Islip win, then won 18 of 20 faceoffs in the Riverhead win. Previous: 10

9. Half Hollow Hills East (N.Y.), 12-2

The Thunderbirds went 1-1 last week, falling to Commack (N.Y.) 9-8 in overtime but rebounding with a 12-7 win over Bay Shore (N.Y.). Sam Rothman had four goals in the Bay Shore game. Previous: 4

10. Jamesville-DeWitt (N.Y,), 10-2

J-D went 1-1 last week, earning a 7-6 win over Auburn (N.Y.) and dropping a 14-12 decision to Fairport (N.Y.). The Red Rams had trouble stopping Fairport sophomore Klay Stuver, who netted seven goals. Griffin Cook totaled six goals and three assists in the two games for J-D. Previous: 7

Mid-Atlantic Top 10

1. McDonogh (Md.), 12-4

The Eagles took the necessary step to retain a grip on the No. 1 seed in the MIAA-A playoffs with a win over Loyola-Blakefield last week. Liam Powderly had four assists and two goals in the 12-7 victory. All they have to do is beat Gilman (Md.) on Tuesday to secure the spot. Previous: 1

2. Loyola-Blakefield (Md.), 13-4

A loss to McDonogh last week likely cost the Dons the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, but they face an equally tough test for the No. 2 seed with a meeting against Calvert Hall (Md.) on Tuesday. A win clinches it, but a loss drops them to No. 3. Previous: 2

3. Calvert Hall (Md.), 13-3

The Cardinals and Dons meet for the No. 2 seed in the playoffs Tuesday, and Calvert Hall is surging. They have won four straight, including games against Severn (Md.) and St. Paul’s (Md.) last week. Jacob Kelly had four assists and three goals in the 14-6 win over St. Paul’s (Md.). If Calvert Hall wins Tuesday the Cards will clinch the No. 2 seed. Previous: 3

4. Boys’ Latin (Md.), 11-4

The Lakers added wins over St. Mary’s-Annapolis (Md.) and Archbishop Spalding (Md.) last week and remain in the hunt for the No. 3 seed in the MIAA-A playoffs. They have to defeat St. Paul’s on Tuesday first, and they’ll need some help from Loyola-Blakefield, which Boys’ Latin will be hoping beats Calvert Hall on Tuesday. BL defeated Calvert Hall 8-5 earlier this year and has the head-to-head tiebreaker advantage for the better seed. Previous: 4

5. Haverford School (Pa.), 14-3

The Fords can clinch their fourth straight Inter-Ac title with a win over Episcopal Academy (Pa.) on Friday. Haverford School has won nine straight games and is undefeated in conference play this season. Previous: 5

6. Gonzaga (D.C.), 17-3

The Purple Eagles avenged their only conference loss of the year when they beat Paul VI (Va.) 10-7 in the WCAC championship game Monday. It was their eighth title in the last nine years. Kyle Borda led with five points. Previous: 7

7. Delbarton (N.J.), 12-1

Delbarton avenged its only loss of the year with a 12-8 win over Chatham (N.J.) last week. Chatham got the best of Delbarton on April 21 by the score of 8-6. C.J. Kirst scored four goals in the win. Previous: 9

8. Paul VI (Va.), 16-4

The Panthers took 12 straight wins into the WCAC championship game against Gonzaga (D.C.) on Monday, but despite a strong second-half push, the streak ended with a 10-7 loss. They were down 7-2 at halftime. Paul VI is the top seed for the VISAA playoffs, which start next week. Previous: 6  

9. Conestoga (Pa.), 13-4

The Pioneers have won 11 straight since an overtime loss to Ridge (N.J.) on April 8, including wins over Strath Haven (Pa.) and Malvern Prep (Pa.). James Reilly went 17-for-21 and scored a goal in the 10-9 victory over Malvern Prep last week. Nick Braendel scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime. Previous: NR  

10. Malvern Prep (Pa.), 11-5

The Friars dropped their third game of the year by two goals or fewer with the 10-9 loss to Conestoga last week. Seamus Glynn and Quinn McCahon each tallied four points in the loss. Previous: 10

South Top 10

1. Lambert (Ga.), 18-0

The Longhorns cruised past Creekview 19-2 in the first round of the Georgia High School Association Class 6A-7A tournament. They play Johns Creek (14-4) in a second-round game on Tuesday. Previous: 1

2. Middle Creek (N.C.), 18-0

The Mustangs won their first North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A playoff game easily, beating Athens Drive 20-3. Owen Caputo became North Carolina’s all-time leading scorer during the game, surpassing the previous mark of 472. The Mustangs play Green Hope (15-2) in a second-round game on Tuesday. Previous: 2

3. Episcopal Dallas (Texas), 18-2

The Eagles breezed past Dripping Springs 20-3 in in a Texas High School Lacrosse League North Super Regional final to advance to the state semifinals on Saturday. They’ll play St. Mark’s, a team they’ve already beaten twice, most recently, 10-2 on April 21. The Texas state championship game is Sunday. The Eagles were the state runners up last year, losing to Dallas Jesuit 9-8 in the title game. Previous: 3 

4. Highland Park (Texas), 15-3

The Scots beat Kingwood 20-4 in the opening round of Texas Super Regional play and then beat Westlake 9-8 to advance to the THSLL Final Four. They’ll play The Woodlands on Saturday. The Scots beat The Woodlands 5-4 in regular-season play on April 7.  The state championship game is Sunday. Highland Park last won the title in 2015. Previous: 4 

5. St. Andrew’s (Fla.), 17-2

The Scots advanced to the Florida High School Athletic Association state final with wins over two-time defending state champion St. Thomas Aquinas and Belen Jesuit. Anthony Molle got the game-winner, off an assist from Matt Adams, to beat St. Thomas 8-7 in overtime in the regional semifinals. They beat Belen Jesuit 9-1 to advance to the state semifinals, as Carl Klepper led with three goals and two assists. Nick Yi and Anthony Molle each scored twice, and Michael Lizzio had one goal and three assists. The Scots play No. 6 Jupiter on Friday for a chance to advance to the state title game. Previous: 5 

6. Jupiter (Fla.), 19-2

The Warriors beat Melbourne 14-3 in an FHSAA regional semifinal and then topped Cardinal Mooney 9-5 to advance to the state final four. They play No. 5 St. Andrew’s on Friday in a state semifinal. The championship game is Saturday. Previous: 6

7. The Woodlands (Texas), 20-1

The Highlanders beat two-time defending state champ Dallas Jesuit 11-4 in a THSLL Super Regional final on Sunday to advance to the state championships. They’ll face off with Highland Park in a semifinal on Saturday. The state championship game is Sunday. Previous: 7

8. Lassiter (Ga.), 14-4

The Trojans slammed Archer 25-2 in the first round of the GHSA 6A-7A playoffs. They play Kennesaw Mountain (13-6) in the second round on Tuesday. Previous: 8

9. Centennial (Ga.), 17-2

The Knights began GHSA 6A-7A tournament play with a 22-3 win over North Cobb. Nicky Solomon had three goals and five assists in the win to bring his career total to 623, which tied his brother and current Syracuse star Nathan Solomon for the Georgia career points record. Ryan Siracusa had five goals to surpass 300 points for his career. The Knights are scheduled to play Etowah (14-5) in a second-round game on Tuesday. Previous: 6

10. Oxbridge Academy (Fla.), 17-3

The ThunderWolves’ season ended with a heartbreaking 6-5 loss to St. Andrew’s in the FHSAA quarterfinals. They had a chance to tie in the final minute, but St. Andrew’s forced a turnover and ran out the clock. Previous: 2

Midwest Top 10

1. Culver Academy (Ind.), 21-0

In a tournament featuring many of the top teams in the region, the Eagles proved their dominance last weekend with wins over Detroit Country Day (Mich.), Brother Rice (Mich.) and New Trier (Ill.) en route to claiming the Midwest Lacrosse Challenge title. Culver defeated New Trier 18-0 in the final with Mike Robinson taking home MVP honors by scoring five goals in the game. Owen Hiltz and Jake Stevens also turned in hat tricks. Culver visits Forest Hills Central (Mich.) this week. Previous: 1

2. New Trier (Ill.), 14-3

Before heading to Indianapolis for the Midwest Lacrosse Challenge, the Trevians defeated then No. 2-ranked Loyola Academy (Ill.) 5-3 on May 1. In Indianapolis, New Trier defeated Cathedral (Ind.) and Cincinnati St. Xavier (Ohio) to reach the tournament final, where the Trevians lost for the second time in two weeks to Culver. Henry Scherb totaled nine goals and two assists in the three games last week. Previous: 6

3. MICDS (Mo.), 16-2

Following dominating in-state wins over Chaminade Prep and Westminster Christian last week, the Rams won a 10-9 overtime thriller over then No. 2-ranked Loyola on Friday. Graham Bundy Jr. racked up 27 of his 99 points for the season during the three games last week, including a three-goal, three-assist performance against Loyola. Previous: 7

4. Dublin Coffman (Ohio), 16-1

The Shamrocks have won 15 in a row since losing to St. Xavier (Ohio) and defeated two ranked opponents last week. Dublin Coffman gave Upper Arlington (Ohio) its first loss and then defeated Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.). The Shamrocks rounded out the week with a win over Our Lady St. Mary’s (Mich.). Senior Luke Holland had back-to-back six-goal games over Detroit Catholic Central and St. Mary’s. Previous: 10

5. Loyola Academy (Ill.), 12-3

It was a tough week for the Ramblers, losing to rival New Trial 5-3 on May 1 and falling to MICDS (Mo.) 10-9 in overtime on Friday. Previous: 2

6. Upper Arlington (Ohio), 15-1

The previously unbeaten Golden Bears lost to nearby Dublin Coffman (Ohio) on May 2 by a 9-7 margin. Upper Arlington recovered three days later to defeat defending state champion Cincinnati Moeller 7-6 in overtime. Goalie Jake Carlin made 13 stops in Upper Arlington’s win over Moeller. Up next is the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association Tournament this weekend. Previous: 4

7. Cincinnati St. Xavier (Ohio), 11-3

The Bombers handed Mariemont (Ohio) its first loss of the season on May 2 before heading to the Midwest Lacrosse Challenge. Duke Alf’s seven goals led the way for St. Xavier over Lake Forest (Ill.) on Friday, but St. Xavier failed to beat New Trier (Ill.) for a second time this season in the tournament’s semifinals on Saturday. The Bombers now prepare to head to the MSLCA Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Previous: 6

8. Columbus DeSales (Ohio), 12-1

The Stallions extended their 12-game winning streak last week with victories over Hilliard Davidson (Ohio), 11-4, and Columbus Watterson (Ohio), 13-7. Previous: 8

9. Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.), 11-2

The Shamrocks remain unbeaten against in-state opponents after wins over University Detroit Jesuit and Rockford last week. Catholic Central stumbled on Saturday against Dublin Coffman, losing 15-10. Previous: 3

10. Forest Hills Central (Mich.), 11-0

The Rangers remained unbeaten last week, collecting wins over Hudsonville (Mich.), 18-3, and Cranbrook (Mich.), 15-11. Forest Hill Central has a challenging week ahead with contests against Culver, Rockford (Mich.) and Saint Viator (Ill.). Previous: 9

West Top 10

1. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 16-1

The Falcons closed the regular season with a 13-3 win over Coronado (Calif.) to finish undefeated against California competition. The victory secured the No. 1 seed in the CIF San Diego Open Division playoffs, where they meet Cathedral Catholic (Calif.) in the quarterfinals Saturday. Previous: 1

2. Regis Jesuit (Colo.), 14-1

The Raiders survived their last big test before the playoffs, beating Columbine (Colo.) 8-4 on Thursday before capping the regular season with a 17-1 win over Denver South (Colo.) on Saturday. They went unbeaten by in-state competition. Anders Erickson led with two goals and two assists against Columbine, which dominated faceoffs but couldn’t take advantage against Regis goalie Matthew McCarthy (seven saves). The top-seeded Raiders play No. 16-seeded Legend (Colo.) in a CHSAA Class 5A playoff opener Thursday. Previous: 2 

3. La Costa Canyon (Calif.), 14-2

The Mavericks bounced back from their loss to Torrey Pines with a pair of wins last week, outscoring San Dieguito (Calif.) and Del Norte (Calif.) 41-6. They earned the No. 2 seed in the San Diego Open Division playoffs and face No. 7-seeded Westview (Calif.) in the quarterfinals Saturday. Previous: 3 

4. Palos Verdes (Calif.), 19-3

The Bay League champion Sea Kings won their first three playoff games to set up a rematch with Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.) in the Southern Section Los Angeles championships. The Cubs have won the last two finals against PV and went on to win the Southern Section championships as well. Palos Verdes beat Harvard-Westlake (Calif.) 8-4 in the L.A. semifinals, building an 8-1 lead and then holding on despite a myriad of turnovers as junior goalie Kyle McCann made 11 saves to preserve the win. Beau Sabosky finished with three goals. Previous: 4 

5. St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.), 18-2

The Tartans move on to the Southern Section Orange County championships after surviving a close battle with Santa Margarita Catholic (Calif.) in the semifinals Saturday. Tomas Anderson tallied three goals to lead St. Margaret’s to a 7-6 win, which followed victories over Huntington Beach (Calif.) and Great Oak (Calif.) in the first two rounds last week. The Tartans face previously-ranked Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.) in the final Wednesday for a spot in the Southern Section championship. Previous: 6  

6. San Ramon Valley (Calif.), 18-2

The Wolves closed the regular season with a 13-5 victory over Monte-Vista Danville (Calif.) and enter the North Coast Section playoffs on a 10-game winning streak. They are the top seed and face No. 16-seeded College Park (Calif.) in the first round Tuesday. Previous: 7

7. Bellevue (Wash.), 14-2

Tom Heed had two goals and one assist and Chase Overton collected 11 ground balls as the Wolverines beat Mercer Island (Wash.) 10-3 on Saturday in the regular-season finale. The state playoffs don’t begin until May 18. Previous: 8

8. Kent Denver (Colo.), 12-3

The Sun Devils have won eight of their last nine, including a 9-4 victory over former No. 5 Cherry Creek (Colo.) on Friday, to jump into the top 10. Also among the wins was a game against previously-ranked Mountain Vista and the loss was by two to Regis Jesuit (Colo.) on April 25. Kent Denver concluded the regular season with a 17-9 win at Mullen (Colo.) on Saturday and earned the No. 2 seed in the Class 5A state tournament, which begins this week. Previous: NR

9. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 12-3

The Bruins’ regular season ended on a sour note, dropping a 9-4 loss to Kent Denver for their worst defeat of the year. Their other two losses were both by one goal to Regis Jesuit and Mountain Vista. Cherry Creek begins its quest to defend its Class 5A state title as the No. 5 seed, opening the tournament Wednesday against Lewis-Palmer (Colo.). Previous: 5

10. Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.), 19-4

The Cubs have won seven straight since suffering a surprising overtime loss to Cathedral Catholic on April 12 and now find themselves back in the Southern Section L.A. final, where they seek a third straight title. Loyola is the top seed in the tournament and faces Palos Verdes on Wednesday for a chance to play the Orange County winner and also three-peat as Southern Section champions. Previous: NR
