The Warrior/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys' lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

Northeast

Mike Lampert, Wayland (Mass.)

Lampert, a junior, recorded a school-record nine assists to help Wayland top Lincoln-Sudbury (Mass.) for the first time since 1999. Wayland earned a 13-12 win over L-S, which is the defending Division I state champion.

Mid-Atlantic

Jacob Kelly, Calvert Hall (Md.)

The senior totaled nine points in the Cardinals’ final two games of the season to lead them to their second straight MIAA-A Conference title. Kelly dished out two assists in the championship game against Boys’ Latin after posting five assists and two goals against Loyola Blakefield in the semifinal.

South

Drew Elder, Lake Norman (N.C.)

The sophomore midfielder won 19 of 25 faceoffs to go with three goals and 17 ground balls to lead his team past unbeaten Middle Creek in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A state championship. Elder also had two goals, two ground balls and won 14 of 24 faceoffs in the semifinal win over Northwest Guilford. In five playoff games, Elder won 84 of 104 faceoffs for a .807 percentage.

Midwest

Alex Simmons, Culver Military Academy (Ind.)

Simmons continued his impressive season at the National Prep Championship last week, leading the No. 1 team in the nation with nine goals over three games. He was also named last week to the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game. Simmons, a senior, is headed to Denver in the fall.

West

Jonathan Ford, Torrey Pines (Calif.)

The senior long-stick middie was a lockdown defender for the Falcons throughout their run to the CIF San Diego Open Division title. Averaging three caused turnovers and six groundballs a game, he helped fuel a potent transition offense. Torrey Pines came back from a three-goal deficit to beat Coronado (Calif.) in the championship game, and the defense, led by Ford, was the difference in the second half.
