The Warrior/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys' lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

Northeast

Hudson Pokorny, Darien (Conn.)

The junior attackman sparked Darien in a 14-4 win over Torrey Pines (Calif.), which is the top-ranked team in the West. He finished with four goals and two assists.

Mid-Atlantic

Aleric Fyock, St. Mary’s-Annapolis (Md.)

The senior goalie stopped 16 shots as St. Mary’s stunned McDonogh (Md.) in a conference-opening victory last week. St. Mary’s held McDonogh to just five goals in the 9-5 win. McDonogh defeated St. Mary’s twice last season, including a 22-6 win in the opening round of the MIAA A Conference playoffs.

South

Eric Malever, Woodward Academy (Ga.)

The sophomore attackman scored five goals and had three assists in a 12-5 win over Marist in a key Class 4A matchup. Malever has 88 points with 45 goals through 10 games. In March, he recorded a season-high 10 goals and seven assists in three quarters of play in a 26-5 win over Druid Hills.

Midwest

Johnny Marrocco, Cincinnati St. Xavier (Ohio)

The senior is coming off an 11-goal week against strong competition, scoring five times against Detroit Country Day (Mich.), four times against Upper Arlington (Ohio) and twice against Brother Rice (Mich.). Coach Nate Sprong said Marrocco could announce his college choice as early as this week.

West

Andy Shin, St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.)

Shin led the Tartans to an impressive 11-8 win over Mount St. Joseph (Md.) on Saturday. He had a hand in six of the team’s 11 goals, including putting five in the back of the net and assisting one. Mount St. Joseph’s plays in the prestigious MIAA A Conference in Maryland.
