Amherst's Evan Wolf has been named the Division III national player of the year by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, which released its annual All-American teams and award winners Thursday.
Wolf made his final season at Amherst the best year, and he could top it off with a national championship on Sunday. He tallied 115 points on 73 goals and 42 assists to lead the team. He sits 11th nationally with 5.48 points per game.
Wolf, Salisbury's Corey Gwin, York's Kevin Witchey and RIT's Walker Hare won the remaining awards.
Wolf took home the Lt. Col. J.I. Turnbull Award given to the nation’s top attackman, Witchey won the William C. Stiles Award as defensive player of the year, Hare took home the Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. award for outstanding goalie, Gwin got the nod for the Fran McCall Sward as the top midfielder.
Dickinson's Nate Usich and RIT's Trevor Smyth won Co-Long Pole Midfielder of the Year, and Amherst's Jimmy McAfee won the Short Stick Midfielder of the Year.
The USILA All-American teams are listed below. Both Salisbury and RIT featured four players on the First Team, while Amherst had three players make First Team.
