The USILA announced its All-Americans for Division I, II and III men’s lacrosse Wednesday. Maryland landed four first-teamers on the Division I list, as good an indication as any that the top-seeded Terps are favored to end their 42-year-old NCAA championship drought this weekend in Foxborough, Mass. Maryland netted nine All-Americans overall, the most of any team.

All five Tewaaraton Award finalists — Albany’s Connor Fields, Maryland’s Matt Rambo, Yale’s Ben Reeves, Loyola’s Pat Spencer and Denver’s Trevor Baptiste — are on the first team.

Other first-team highlights:

  • Syracuse grabbed two of the four offensive midfield spots with Sergio Salcido and Nick Mariano, making it perhaps more impressive how Towson neutralized the Orange midfield in its NCAA quarterfinal upset. (Take a look at the two second-team short-stick defensive midfielders for a better understanding of why.)

  • The ACC and Big Ten accounted for 11 of the 16 honorees.

  • Goalie Benny Pugh is Richmond’s first-ever first-team All-American. The Spiders just concluded their fourth season.
