The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. The South Region has completed its season.

NORTHEAST

Chloe Humphrey, Darien (Conn.)

Darien celebrated yet another state title — beating Ludlowe to win the CIAC Class L championship — and Humphrey’s return from injury was a big reason for the Blue Wave’s success.

The sophomore scored a pair of goals in an 8-4 semifinal win over New Canaan, as Darien avenged three previous losses this season to their rivals. Then, in the championship game, Humphrey, the top-ranked player in the Class of 2023, scored five goals to extend the Blue Wave’s remarkable state championship-game winning streak to 11.

“Having Chloe back has forced our team to raise their level of play,” Darien coach Lisa Lindley said. “Highly competitive, she demands the same from everyone she plays with.”

MID-ATLANTIC

Lily Ramsey, Oak Knoll (N.J.)

Ramsey is slated to play field hockey at Yale next year, but lacrosse looks like a pretty good option as well, especially after last week’s performance.

The Oak Knoll senior had a monster week that culminated with seven points on four goals and three assists to help the Royals stop Immaculate Heart (N.J.) 17-4 in the Non-Public, Group A championship game on Saturday. Ramsey had eight points on five goals and three assists in a 16-8 sectional semifinal win over Mount St. Mary (N.J.). Ramsey also struck for a hat trick in a 19-8 win over Camden Catholic (N.J.) on June 7 in the quarterfinals.

Also notable: Keri Barnett, Archbishop Carroll (Pa.); Addie Cummings, Westfield (N.J.); Margaret Mooney, Radnor (Pa.); Megan Rice, Manheim Township (Pa.); Sophie Straka, Chatham (N.J.)

MIDWEST

Ellie Lazzaretto, Loyola Academy (Ill.)

The top-ranked team in the Midwest was in trouble. New Trier (Ill.) had an astonishing 7-1 lead over Loyola Academy in their sectional title match. Lazzaretto led the comeback with two goals to draw within two at the half, the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation and a free-position goal in overtime to capture the title. She finished with an astonishing eight goals for the Ramblers.

Rismani scored two goals and assisted five others in the 15-2 victory, which lifted the Eagles into the West Region Top 10. She has 21 goals and 38 assists this season while helping Valor Christian to an 8-1 start.
