The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

NORTHEAST

Kaylie Mackiewicz, Northport (N.Y.)

Kaylie Mackiewicz hadn’t lost a girls’ lacrosse game since April of her freshman season. And after Northport’s 46-game winning streak was snapped last weekend by New Canaan (Conn.), the senior wasn’t about to repeat that result against Wilton (Conn.) last weekend. The Duke-bound attacker, who has 43 goals and 15 assists on the season, had two goals and an assist, scoring the triple-overtime winner to cap a thrilling 8-7 comeback for the Tigers.

MID-ATLANTIC

Jaclyn Marszal, Glenelg Country (Md.)

Marszal scored eight goals and had six assists for a career-high 14 points in a 20-7 win over previously unbeaten St. Paul’s (Md.). The win snapped St. Paul’s win streak at 18 games dating back to last year – including an IAAM A Conference semifinal win over Glenelg that ended their 2021 season. Marszal finished the week with eight goals and 11 assists after tallying five assists in a 17-7 win over Garrison Forest (Md.). The senior attack is committed to Notre Dame.

SOUTH

Taylor Lapointe, Steinbrenner (Fla.)

Taylor Lapointe had a combined 15 points in two playoff games last week. Lapointe scored five times and added two assists in Steinbrenner’s 20-1 win over Gulf Coast (Fla.). She followed that up with a season-best eight-point performance with five goals and three helpers in a 14-9 win over Newsome (Fla.). She has scored 54 goals and 19 assists as her team heads into the state semifinals. She is committed to Northwestern.

MIDWEST

Adrienne Leone, Loyola Academy (Ill.)

Following multiple challenging trips to the East Coast, the senior helped ensure that her team had a happy return to the Land of Lincoln, notching five goals and four assists in a 15-9 win over Hinsdale Central (Ill.). She played a part in 60 percent of the Ramblers' goals. After just 13 games, Leone, with 47 goals, is a mere four scores away from matching her 2021 total.

Jena Mooney, San Marcos (Calif.)

The freshman helped San Marcos to two big San Diego Open Division wins last week, as the Knights beat La Costa Canyon (Calif.) 13-11 and Poway (Calif.) 15-8. Both opponents were ranked ahead of them in the San Diego section standings. Mooney especially stood out in the April 29 win over Poway, tallying seven goals and two assists. She added two goals in the narrow win over LCC.
