The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

NORTHEAST

Catherine Berkery, Bronxville (N.Y.)

It was a huge week for the Broncos, who rolled over Carmel (N.Y.) and then Suffern (N.Y.) in a battle of Section 1 juggernauts before knocking off Eastport-South Manor (N.Y.) as part of the Gains for Brains showcase at Mount Sinai on April 24. And Berkery, the 5-foot-10 junior attacker, played a major role. The Penn commit had two goals and six assists in the 22-4 win over Carmel, four goals and two assists against Suffern and two goals and two assists in the victory over ESM.

“Catherine has been a key cog in helping run the offense from behind the cage,” Bronxville assistant coach Scott Bacigalupo said. “Her eyes are always up and looking to make a feed to cutters. She can also drive to the front of the cage to make her presence as a goal scorer. She is a very well-rounded attacker.”

MID-ATLANTIC

Emma Kennedy, Glenelg (Md.)

The senior attack had another big week of scoring, as the Gladiators remained perfect this season. Kennedy, a Navy commit, scored five goals and dished out three assists in a 20-1 win over Wilde Lake (Md.). Kennedy had four goals and three more assists in a 17-4 win over Marriotts Ridge (Md.), which also came into the game unbeaten in Howard County play. Kennedy scored seven goals and four helpers in a 24-4 win over River Hill on Monday as Glenelg improved to 11-0.

Caroline Byrd, American Heritage-Delray (Fla.)

Sophomore attacker Caroline Byrd led American Heritage-Delray to a regional quarterfinal victory last week after posting a four-goal, eight-assist effort against Heritage (Fla.). She is second on her team in goals (32) and assists (34).

MIDWEST

Eliana LaMange, East Grand Rapids (Mich.)

The magic started in EGR’s overtime victory over Detroit Country Day (Mich.) when the senior scored a pair of goals in the extra period, both off assists from her younger sister, Vivian. (The senior finished the game with four goals, while the sophomore tallied six assists.) The two weren’t done. In another close win, this time over a top Illinois team in Hinsdale Central, Eliana, a Robert Morris commit, tallied four goals while Vivian added four assists.

Piper Daskalos, Jesuit Portland (Ore.)

The junior had a hand in 19 goals over two games last week, including scoring seven goals and assisting another, to lead Jesuit to a 17-11 win over Oregon Episcopal (Ore.). She also had 11 points on nine goals and two assists in a 17-12 win over Grant (Ore.). Daskalos added three ground balls and one caused turnover in those games.
