The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. The South Region has completed its season.

NORTHEAST

Dominic Comella, Canandaigua (N.Y.)

Canandaigua closed the regular season by slaying a pair of previously undefeated teams and earning the top seed in the Section V Class B tournament. Comella brought the dagger. The senior midfielder had seven goals and one assist in the Braves’ 3-0 week. It started with one goal in a 7-5 win over Victor (N.Y.), one goal and one assist in a lopsided win at Gates-Chili (N.Y.) and then an explosion in his final regular season game — five goals in a 9-3 win at Penn Yan (N.Y.) in the 85th meeting between the rivals.

Comella, also a star running back for the Canandaigua football team, has 24 goals and eight assists on the season as the Braves turn their attention on winning their first Section V title since 2013.

Also notable: Rob Troyano, Shoreham-Wading River (N.Y.); Marco Firmender, Fairfield Prep (Conn.); Spencer Liston, Wilton (Conn.); Griffin Chernoff, Kellenberg (N.Y.); Joey Spallina, Mount Sinai (N.Y.); Pat Kenny, Port Washington (N.Y.)

MID-ATLANTIC

Thomas Burkhardt, DeMatha (Md.)

Burkhardt made 14 saves for the Stags as they came back to edge Bullis 10-9 in the quarterfinals of the Washington D.C. Championships on Friday. Burkhardt helped backstop a defensive effort that enabled DeMatha to rally from a 6-1 deficit. It is the fifth straight win for DeMatha, putting the Stags in the tournament semifinals against St. John’s College High (D.C.).

Also notable: Colin Burns, Georgetown Prep (D.C.); Evan Jones, Towson (Md.); Gavin Kelly, St. John’s College High (Md.); Dylan Sebastian, Summit (N.J.); Colin Shadowens, Severna Park (Md.)

MIDWEST

Carter Barco, Dublin Jerome (Ohio)

After Jackson Byrne tied Dublin Jerome’s state championship final against Upper Arlington, Barco scored the game-winner with 28.1 seconds left. Barco’s overhand rip to the right side of the net was part of his three-goal, three-assist performance against the Golden Bears.

WEST

Kenny Seiler, Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.)

Seiler scored three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift Foothill to a 7-6 win over Mater Dei (Calif.) in the CIF Southern Section semifinals last week. The Knights had lost to Mater Dei during the regular season, but in avenging that defeat, they moved on the championship game and back into the West region rankings.

Seiler also had the tying goal, among his four on the day, to send Foothill into overtime against Tesoro in the quarterfinals before Luke Fox scored the winner.

Also notable: Nils Barry, St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.); Tyler Brown, Corona del Mar (Calif.); Andrew Cook, Torrey Pines (Calif.); Gunnar Fellows, Valor Christian (Colo.)
