The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.
NORTHEAST
Jay Ottomanelli, Garden City (N.Y.)
Jay Ottomanelli has a flair for the dramatic. The senior attackman, a Trinity commit, put his name into Woodstick Classic lore on the night of April 30, scoring six goals in a 12-11 overtime win at Manhasset (N.Y.), as Garden City captured the 138th edition of a rivalry that spans 87 years. The Indians still lead the all-time series 76-62, but Ottomanelli’s output won’t soon be forgotten for anyone fortunate enough to be at Ed Walsh Field for the latest meeting.
“Jay stepped up on the biggest stage for us,” Garden City coach Steve Finnell said. “He has been getting better in practice each week, and it paid off. Six goals in the Woodstick is pretty rare. He is a talented shooter, but got some goals off hustle plays Saturday which was huge for us.”

MID-ATLANTIC
Charlie Muller, Bullis (Md.)
Muller helped the Bulldogs win 10-6 over Landon (Md.) on April 29. Muller caused four turnovers and helped limit Landon to single-digit goals. It’s the seventh straight win for Bullis, and the winning streak coincides with the return of the 6-foot-4 lefty pole, who came back from injury after the Bulldogs’ last loss April 2. Only one team has managed double-digit scoring since Muller’s return to the lineup. Bullis was scheduled to finish the regular season with a challenging matchup against Georgetown Prep (Md.) on May 3.
