SPARKS, Md. — The U.S. women’s senior and U19 teams are coming to California in January for the Spring Premiere. The six-team event, also featuring the English National Team, Fresno State University, the Japanese developmental team and Stanford University, will be held at Stanford from Jan. 25-27, 2019.

The U.S. women’s senior team is the defending Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) world champion, having won the most recent championship in 2017. U.S. team head coach Jenny Levy, a two-time NCAA championship coach at North Carolina, is building towards the 2021 FIL World Championship, which will be hosted by US Lacrosse at Towson University in 2021.

Taylor Cummings, a three-time Tewaaraton winner at Maryland and an all-world selection in 2017, headlines the list of U.S. players playing in the Spring Premiere. Cummings is one of 11 players coming to California that have won at least one World Cup, including 2017 all-world honorees Megan Douty, Michelle Tumolo and Kayla Treanor and 2013 all-world selection Katrina Dowd.

The U.S. women’s U19 team is in training for the 2019 FIL Women’s U19 World Championship, which will be held this coming August in Canada. Led by head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, a seven-time NCAA championship coach at Northwestern, the U19 team consists of 34 players that range in age from juniors in high school to sophomores in college.

The U19 roster includes the No. 1 ranked players in the Inside Lacrosse recruiting rankings for the Class of 2018 (Elizabeth Hillman — Fallston, Md.), 2019 (Kasey Choma — Manorville, N.Y.) and 2020 (Caitlyn Wurzburger — Delray Beach, Fla.).

The U.S. U19 team finished as silver medalists to Canada in the most recent world championship in 2015, ending a string of four straight world titles for the program.

The complete schedule for Spring Premiere, full U.S. rosters and ticket information will be announced shortly.
