SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse today announced a partnership with the Philadelphia Wings to promote the US Lacrosse Convention and Fan Fest (LaxCon) and the Wings’ home game against the Georgia Swarm Jan. 12, 2019.
Lacrosse enthusiasts can purchase a general admission ticket to LaxCon’s Fan Fest and a reserved seat to the Wings-Swarm game for just $23, a savings of 35 percent vs. purchasing separately. These combo tickets are on sale at uslacrosse.org/laxcon and at wingslax.com.
“Philadelphia long has been a great lacrosse city, having hosted the US Lacrosse Convention and NCAA championship several times in recent years,” Brett Hurwitz, vice president of marketing and communications at US Lacrosse, said. “It’s great to see the Wings back on the field, and we’re excited to work with them to make Jan. 11-13 a terrific lacrosse weekend in the City of Brotherly Love.”
“The Philadelphia Wings are excited to partner with US Lacrosse in an effort to support and grow the sport in the Philadelphia market,” Lindsey Masciangelo, vice president of business operations for the Philadelphia Wings, said. “The weekend of Jan. 11-13 will be an opportunity for all fans to engage in the sport at LaxCon and FanFest, and then take in a professional game at Wells Fargo Center. We look forward to working with US Lacrosse to make the weekend special for our fans.”
Fan Fest, a family friendly portion of the weekend-long US Lacrosse Convention, opens the Pennsylvania Convention Center to lacrosse fans of all ages 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. The expo hall will feature the latest in lacrosse gear, uniforms, services and swag from 150 exhibitors. Partial lacrosse fields surrounded by bleacher seating will spotlight live demonstrations by members of Team USA and other top players, many of which will be available for autographs throughout the day. Athlete appearances and activities for Fan Fest will be announced when confirmed.
The Wings’ game against Georgia has been designated as “US Lacrosse Night.” Faceoff at Wells Fargo Center, a short ride from the convention center, is set for 7 p.m. The partnership also provides for a US Lacrosse presence at Wings games Dec. 15 and following Fan Fest. Wings head coach Paul Day will host an educational session at LaxCon. The National Lacrosse League will have a booth in the expo hall.
LaxCon represents lacrosse’s largest educational event and trade show, drawing upwards of 7,000 each year to learn the game, network with others in the community, and then develop the sport locally upon returning home. Special hotel rates are available for all attendees who book accommodations before Dec. 17. Discounted parking near the convention center is available thanks to US Lacrosse’s partnership with SpotHero.
