The US Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.
NORTHEAST
Coulter Mackesy, Brunswick School (Conn.)
In a pick-your-poison stacked Brunswick School attack, Mackesy has been particularly venomous in the first six games of the season. The Princeton-bound senior has 19 goals and seven assists in six consecutive victories for the national powerhouse. But it’s more than just a numbers game for Mackesy — it’s how he’s finding his offense that impresses Brunswick School coach David Bruce.
“He’s really letting the game come to him; he’s not forcing his own dodging,” Bruce said. “He’s an elite dodger and attackman, but Coulter has been really working well off the midfielders’ initiation.”

Eric Spanos, Malvern Prep (Pa.)
Spanos had a combined 12 goals in back-to-back wins for Malvern Prep, which won its fifth straight game since a season-opening loss. The Maryland-bound senior attackman scored four goals in an 18-3 win over Penn Charter (Pa.) on April 13. He followed it up with a season-high eight goals in a 16-5 win over Episcopal Academy (Pa.) on Friday. Spanos has led the Friars in goal-scoring this season.
