SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse today announced the schedule of speakers for educational sessions and demonstrations for lacrosse coaches, officials, and organizational leaders at the 2018 US Lacrosse Convention (LaxCon). The early bird ticket promotion ends at 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday, Nov. 30.

Through Thursday only, US Lacrosse members can register for the convention for just $90, and non-members for $130. Each figure represents a savings of $70 vs. respective walk-up ticket prices. Registration includes all-access for the three-day event, a free audio/video library of sessions, and discounted hotel rates for accommodations booked before Dec. 17.

The lineup of nearly 150 speakers features many of the best coaches in the game. Of note to attendees that coach high school and youth boys’ lacrosse: John Danowski (Team USA, Duke), Regy Thorpe (Team USA indoor, Syracuse), John Tillman (Maryland), Ben DeLuca (Delaware), Jim Berkman (Salisbury), and Rob Bordley (Landon School, Bethesda, Md.), among others.

Highlighting the schedule of speakers to address girls’ lacrosse coaches are Cindy Timchal (Navy), Janine Tucker (Johns Hopkins), Ricky Fried (Georgetown), Devon Wills (USC), Paul McCord (Jacksonville) and Amy Orcutt (Conestoga High School, Berwyn, Pa.), among others.

Jon Gordon, a former player at Cornell and highly regarded author and motivational speaker, will deliver the LaxCon Keynote at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

“LaxCon represents the best opportunity for coaches, officials and leaders of local lacrosse organizations to develop and network, and we’ve assembled a lineup of speakers to facilitate that,” Kim Rogers, director of events at US Lacrosse, said. “Many of our presenters are the best at what they do. We’re looking forward to a great event.”

The schedules for officials include mechanic-specific clinics and NCAA, NFHS and US Lacrosse rules interpretation sessions. Topics for organizational leaders include those on recruiting more volunteers, structuring leadership boards, and running effective meetings.

LaxCon represents lacrosse’s largest educational event and is set for Jan. 19-21, 2018, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The convention is open to the public, and members of US Lacrosse always save $40 on registration vs. non-member pricing. Special hotel rates are available for all attendees for accommodations booked before Dec. 17.
