UC Davis has found its fifth coach in program history, and she's a name well-known in the women’s lacrosse world. Suzanne Isidor (formerly Weinberg), the former Penn State player and coach, was announced as the Aggies’ head coach on Friday.

Isidor, who led the Nittany Lions from 2000 to 2010 after coaching at Drew University for four seasons, has been working as director of the Davis Lacrosse Association while serving as a consultant for Tenacity Lacrosse.

Isidor has a combined record of 140-101 in her NCAA coaching career.

“I am extremely excited and honored to be the new head coach at UC Davis,” Isidor said in a press release. “I have been so impressed with all of the student-athletes I have met and can’t wait to get started. I want to thank Kevin Blue and [associate athletics director] Maggie Fenton for the opportunity to be a part of the Aggie family.”

Isidor competed collegiately for Penn State, making three NCAA tournament appearances from 1992-1995. She was an IWLCA Regional All-American in 1995, while the Nittany Lions advanced to the NCAA semifinal.

She spent a year as an assistant at Penn State before heading to Drew to become a head coach. Isidor compiled a record of 56-15 at Drew, including a Division III NCAA tournament appearance, before accepting the job at her alma mater.

In 10 seasons at Happy Valley, Isidor made two NCAA tournaments while going 84-86. 

“Suzanne’s extensive head coaching experience and her passion for mentoring our student-athletes in a way that will produce strong and confident leaders makes her an ideal fit for our organization,” said Kevin Blue, associate athletics director. “Suzanne will be able to connect positively with our alumni and program supporters, and her contributions will help build upon our reputation as one of the top public schools in the country.

Isidor was familiar with UC Davis before taking the job, as her husband, Dan, works as the executive director of principal gifts for the Development & Alumni Relations office at the school.

UC Davis is coming off its third consecutive losing season, going 6-11 in 2017. However, the Aggies return their top two scorers from that team.

Isidor replaces former head coach Tee Ladoucer, who joined the team in 2015.
