Devon Wills, the All-World goalie, USC associate head coach and WPLL director of player relations, led Team USA to two gold medals last summer at the FIL World Cup and IWGA World Games.

After nabbing a total of four gold medals in her lengthy involvement with the U.S. national team program, Wills returned to the 2018 US Lacrosse Convention in Baltimore.

Isolated Hand Movements

  1. Buy a resistance band appropriate for the age, level and strength of your goalie. If your goal is strong enough, attach it to a pole. If not, hold the band behind your goalie.

  2. Position the band under her armpit and around the shaft of her stick. She should feel the resistance. To improve top hand movement, keep the band at the top of her stick. To strengthen the bottom hand, flip the band to the other pole and keep it low on the stick.

  3. Have your goalie get in her stance. Taking the step out of the save, your goalie should focus on the necessary hand movements for high saves or mid saves.
