SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse welcomed more than 100 girls to Tierney Field here last weekend to try out for the 2019 U.S. women’s under-19 training team, which was released Sunday after the last session.

The US Lacrosse communications staff covered the tryouts, which marked a homecoming of sorts for head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. The longtime coach at Northwestern played on three U.S. World Cup teams, earning Federation of International Lacrosse All-World Team honors in 2005 and helping the Americans win the cup in 1997 and 2005.

“For me, it’s a just a real honor to be a part of the U.S. program again,” Amonte Hiller said in this edition of “Team USA: The Vlog.” “I really cherished my time, and there’s really nothing like being a part of something where you can represent your country.”

Check out a behind-the-scenes look at the tryout weekend, presented by US Lacrosse video team staffers Mike Wallin and Mason Perricone.

The 36-player U.S. training team will participate in the Team USA Fall Classic, Oct. 5-8 at Tierney Field. Event details will be announced later. Follow the team on social media @US Lacrosse and @USAWLAX.

The FIL Women’s U19 World Championship is set for Aug. 1-10, 2019, in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
