SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse today announced that Team USA and North Carolina women’s lacrosse coach Jenny Levy will speak to high school and youth girls’ lacrosse coaches at the 2019 US Lacrosse Convention (LaxCon), set for Jan. 11-13 in Philadelphia.

Levy, who will lead the U.S. team in the 2021 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup, has guided the Tar Heels to two NCAA championships in her 23-season tenure as the only head coach in program history. North Carolina has reached the national semifinals 10 times, most recently last season, and has won two ACC titles. Levy’s 329-113 record places her third on the NCAA Division I career wins list, and her 32 NCAA tournament wins rank fifth. Twice the IWLCA has named her its national coach of the year.

“I’m honored to speak at the US Lacrosse Convention and am looking forward to being a part of this annual gathering of the lacrosse community,” Levy said. “There are so many talented presenters willing to share their insights and expertise. It is a great event for coaches to learn new ideas and strategies to take their coaching to the next level.”

Levy owns the rare distinction of having won a national championship as a player and a coach. A two-time All-American attacker at Virginia, she helped the Cavaliers win the 1991 NCAA championship by scoring five goals in the semifinal and three in the final to earn most outstanding attacker honors. She graduated in 1992 and later would be named by the ACC as one of its top 50 lacrosse players of all time.

Levy played on the U.S. national team for three years. As part of preparations for the 2021 World Cup, which will be hosted by US Lacrosse, she’ll lead the U.S. training team against teams from the United Women’s Lacrosse League and Women’s Professional Lacrosse League in exhibitions Nov. 17 at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando. “Coach Levy is a true champion with an outstanding record of accomplishment,” Skip Lichtfuss, director of the US Lacrosse National Teams Program, said. “We’re grateful and thrilled she will be a speaker at LaxCon.”

The specific date and time of Levy’s session will be announced as the convention draws near.

LaxCon represents lacrosse’s largest educational event and trade show, drawing upwards of 7,000 each year to learn the game, network with others in the community, and then develop the sport locally upon returning home.
