Taylor Cummings, one of the most decorated athletes in lacrosse history, is one of 24 finalists for the International World Games Association (IWGA) Athlete of the Year for 2021. Online voting for the award will begin on Jan. 10.
Cummings, a member of the U.S. women’s national team since 2014, led the leaderboard in the inaugural season of Athletes Unlimited women’s lacrosse with 1,934 points earned in 15 games. One of the most versatile players in the sport, Cummings finished the season with 27 goals, 11 assists, 31 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and 79 draw controls.
Following up the Athletes Unlimited season, Cummings led the U.S. women to a sweep of Canada and reigning NCAA champion Boston College during the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic. Cummings tied for the team lead with three goals and had a team-high five draw controls in a 19-3 win over Canada and added a team-best three draw controls in a 13-5 win over Boston College.
