Tampa just completed one of the more dominant seasons in Division II history, cruising to the NCAA tournament and powering past Limestone and Mercy en route to an undefeated season. It was the first-ever title for Tampa, which won under first-year coach J.B. Clarke, who knows a thing or two about winning championships from his time at Limestone.
Naturally, Tampa ends the season at No. 1 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division II Men’s Top 20.
Mercy ends the season at No. 2 after a successful season under coach Jordan Levine, followed by a Limestone team that looked dominant at times but suffered a big loss to Tampa in the NCAA semifinals.
The biggest risers in the Division II rankings are Seton Hill, which topped Mercyhurst in the NCAA first round before falling to Mercy by a goal, and Le Moyne, which fell in double overtime to the Mavericks but topped Saint Anselm and Adelphi along the way.
The Spartans are the champions, but plenty of teams should come away happy with the outcome of their campaigns.
