It was a relatively quiet Sunday in Division I women’s lacrosse, but there were four ranked teams in action and 14 games overall to recap.
Let’s hop right in.
FLORIDA WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT
Danielle Pavinelli had seven goals and Paisley Eagan had seven points (three goals, four assists), as No. 7 Florida cruised to a 21-10 victory over Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona.
This was all Florida from the jump, as the Gators (6-4) led 14-4 at halftime, giving themselves a nice cushion in the second half of what became their fourth straight victory.
It seems as if Florida has truly turned a corner, a turnaround that began with its win over then-No. 3 Syracuse on March 16.
Arizona State, meanwhile, has lost two straight and three of four after a statement win over Colorado on March 13. Now 4-5, the Sun Devils’ schedule doesn’t get any easier over the next two weeks. They play three straight ranked opponents — Stony Broo, Rutgers and Stanford — beginning April 1.
RICHMOND DOMINATES SECOND HALF
No. 17 Richmond and George Washington were knotted at 6 at halftime, but the Spiders scored six of the seven goals in the second half to win 12-7.
Lindsey Frank’s five goals led the offense, but Arden Tierney’s was arguably the MVP of the game. She had three goals, one assist and 11 draw controls, as Richmond (8-2) held an 18-5 advantage in the circle.
George Washington (2-8) hung around as long as it did largely because of goalie Megan Patrick, who made an astounding 23 saves.
