Weekend Coverage

Johns Hopkins scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed in a 17-9 season-opening victory on Sunday at Drexel.

Ellie McNulty, a graduate transfer from Princeton playing her first game for the Blue Jays, scored two of those opening goals and finished with a team-best four goals and five points.

Drexel trailed just 7-5 late in the first half, but Maggie Schneiderereith and McNulty, who earned first team All-Ivy League honors last year, scored goals in the final 5:03 of the first half and Drexel never got closer than three goals in the second half.

Schneiderereith and Keegan Barger each had three goals for Hopkins and Miranda Ibello and Mackenzie Heldberg each had two goals and two assists.

Lynch Stays Hot as Irish Cruise

Samantha Lynch, limited to just one game last year due to injury, continued her torrid comeback with a game-high five goals as No. 19 Notre Dame routed Canisius 21-4 on Sunday. Lynch, who scored 37 goals as a sophomore in 2017 before getting injured in the season-opener against Boston College last year, was coming off of a six-goal game in the Irish's 19-4 win over Marquette on Friday.

Lynch had plenty of help on Sunday as 11 Notre Dame players scored a goal and 14 players had at least one point. Lynch, Maddie Howe (3g, 2a) and Nikki Ortega (3g, 2a) all had five points.
