Duke Escapes Louisville with Double OT Win

No. 15 Duke’s matchup with Louisville was barely three minutes in on Saturday when weather pushed the game back a day. So, why not extend things a little more?

After six minutes with no goals to start overtime, Charlotte North’s seventh goal of the game, off a rebound in the second overtime period, gave the Blue Devils an 11-10 victory over the Cardinals.

Neither team led by more than two goals in the game and back-to-back goals by Louisville’s Alex McNicholas gave the Cardinals a 10-9 lead with under two minutes to play in regulation.

North, a sophomore who leads the Blue Devils with 36 goals in just seven games, forced overtime on her goal with just 58 seconds remaining.

Duke goalie Gabbie Cadoux made 12 saves, including eight in the second half, to earn the win for the Blue Devils (6-1, 2-0 ACC). Olivia Jenner added two goals and 14 draw controls.

Louisville (2-6, 0-2 ACC) was led by Tessa Chad with four goals.
