The movements in the latest Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25 is more subtle with over half the country finished with their seasons. But continuing playoffs ensure that there is still time to move. Comsewogue (N.Y.) and Summit (N.J.) slide into the national Top 25 with continued strong play as they head toward their state tournaments.

A matchup of public school unbeatens in Maryland went to Century (Md.) to open a Top 10 spot for St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) to fill after three-peating in CHSAA Class AA. Century is one of four unbeatens in the Top 25 along with Darien (Conn.), Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) and Sacred Heart (Conn.).

Although there’s minimal movement in the Northeast this week, teams in the Top 10 are on a collision course, with Connecticut powerhouses Darien and New Canaan likely set for a Round 2 in the FCIAC championship and Northport (N.Y.) and Ward Melville (N.Y.) set to lock horns in the Suffolk Class A final after the teams were separated by one goal in the regular season. It’s the sort of matchups we love to see at season’s end.

Century won a big showdown with Glenelg High (Md.) which had picked up some early attention with some significant out-of-league wins. Carroll (Pa.) remained dominant in the Philadelphia Catholic League and gears up now for some tougher tests when Pennsylvania begins its state tournament. New Jersey too is heading into state play and that means there’s the chance for some great head-to-head games.

Most of the South Region had completed its season. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.) made a little climb up after winning its fifth state title. The Crusaders rallied to earn their 20th win of the season after knocking off a strong Holly Springs (N.C.) squad in the semifinals. No one else in the Top 10 played last week.

Unbeaten Upper Arlington (Ohio) remains at the top of the Midwest. The Golden Bears are hoping that perfect record stretches through the postseason with every opponent looking to be the one to knock them off. Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana front-runners all have big games ahead in the playoffs. Kentucky Country Day (Ky.) joins the rankings after a tight win in the state championship.

Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.) went through a gauntlet of good West teams to remain the top of the region. Just behind them is Colorado Academy (Colo.), which wrapped up another state title to cap an 18-1 season, and St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) which won a championship over the weekend as well. Unbeaten Park City (Utah) will try to remain perfect in its state playoffs, and Lake Oswego (Ore.) is perched for a run at its state crown. Mercer Island (Wash.) made the most of its chance to finish on top.
