For the first time since 2009, the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25 is topped by a team other than McDonogh (Md.).

The Eagles’ marvelous 198-game winning streak and eight-year run atop the rankings came to a halt Friday, as Notre Dame Prep (Md.) upended McDonogh 10-8 in the IAAM championship game at US Lacrosse.

Manhasset (N.Y.), whose 14-game winning streak since a season-opening loss to Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) includes impressive wins over Darien (Conn.), Garden City (N.Y.) and St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), ascends to the No. 1 spot, followed by Notre Dame Prep and McDonogh. Pittsford (N.Y.), one of just two unbeaten teams remaining in the rankings (No. 16 Northport is the other) and Darien round out the top five.
