There were a number of near misses, but very few upsets in NCAA Division I women's last week. As a result, this week's rankings are largely unchanged, including the top six teams remaining in place.

No. 5 Florida had the biggest high-wire act of the week, falling behind 10-2 to Navy before rallying for a 19-16 victory on Tuesday. The Gators then went scoreless for the final 17 minutes of their game yesterday at Vanderbilt, but held on for an 11-10 victory.

No. 13 USC also got pushed to the brink twice, beating Colorado 8-7 in overtime on Friday and then edging Oregon 9-8 in overtime yesterday.

The biggest mover was Loyola, which climbed five spots to No. 8 as its continues to pile up big wins after losing its first two games of the season.

HOT

Loyola (+5)

The Greyhounds continue to pile up wins as their winning streak has reached five games. Loyola outscored Virginia 19-18 on Wednesday night and then opened Patriot League play with a 15-3 win over Army West Point. Loyola now owns wins over four teams in the Top 20, but has two testers this week with road trips to Georgetown and Lehigh.

Penn (+2)

The Quakers have strung together seven solid wins, but the only win over a current Top 20 team was a 12-11 triumph over Johns Hopkins. Penn will get a very good measure of where it stands when it hosts defending national champion Maryland on Wednesday night.

NOT

Virginia (-2)

The Cavaliers had lost two straight before Saturday's 17-10 win over Notre Dame. Virginia has given up 58 goals in its last four games and faces another challenge on Wednesday night as No. 2 James Madison brings its perfect record to Charlottesville for an in-state showdown.

IN

Stanford

Stanford's season started with back-to-back losses to Denver and Stony Brook, but the Cardinal has won six of seven games since then, including Saturday's 21-5 win over Cal. Three of Stanford's top six scorers are freshmen, including Ali Baiocco, who has a team-best 20 goals.

OUT

Notre Dame (previously 20)

The Irish have lost three straight games, including Wednesday's road loss to unranked High Point, to fall to 5-5 for the season.
