Forgotten uniforms, overtime finishes, top-5 upsets. Was there anything Saturday didn’t have? Here’s a look back at a memorable day of college lacrosse.

MCELROY, GEORGETOWN STONE NOTRE DAME

There was first-half domination from Georgetown. There was a furious third-quarter rally from Notre Dame. There was magic from the Kavanaghs. But there was mostly Owen McElroy putting on a show, as No. 3 Georgetown won 16-11 at No. 4 Notre Dame on a chilly Saturday.

McElroy finished with 24 saves, including 11 in the fourth quarter alone, to lead the Hoyas, and James Reilly was dominant on faceoffs, winning 21 of 29.

Georgetown led 11-2 at one point late in the second quarter when Pat Kavanagh scored a beautiful behind-the-back goal after making a tough catch in traffic.

The Irish rode that momentum, scoring eight straight goals to pull within 11-10 on Morrison Mirer’s goal early in the fourth quarter. Declan McDermott and Graham Bundy Jr. stopped the run with back-to-back goals, and then the Hoyas scored the game’s final three tallies.

McDermott led Georgetown with four goals, and Connor Morin, a grad transfer who previously played at Notre Dame, added three. Mirer led Notre Dame with four goals.

PENN STATE SNAPS SKID, UPSETS YALE

Following three straight losses, Penn State got healthy in the best way possible — by beating No. 5 Yale 10-6 behind 21 saves from Aleric Fyock. The 21 saves was a career-best for the junior, who has now registered double-digit saves in four straight games.

Penn State jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the opening quarter, taking advantage of a Yale own-goal against the Nittany Lion ride, but the Bulldogs outscored Penn State 3-0 in the second quarter to tie the score at the half.

Penn State answered with three goals in the opening six minutes of the third quarter and never trailed again. Jeb Brenfleck, a redshirt freshman who had his second straight hat trick, had a goal and an assist during the pivotal start to the second half.

VIRGINIA DOMINATES SYRACUSE

No. 1 Virginia has made a habit of wild comebacks in the last few seasons. The Cavaliers needed no such heroics on Saturday, dominating ACC rival Syracuse 20-11 in Charlottesville.

Virginia raced out to an 8-1 lead after the opening quarter and led wire-to-wire to improve ot 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the ACC. Virginia’s starting attack unit of Payton Cormier, Matt Moore and Connor Shellenberger all had hat tricks, with Shellenberger dishing out four assists.

Heralded Virginia freshman Griffin Schutz also chipped in with a career-best three goals.

No. 12 Syracuse (1-2, 0-1) pulled to within three goals at 12-9 midway through the third quarter, but Jack Simmons scored back-to-back goals for the Cavaliers to ignite a seven-goal run that put the game away.

JACKSONVILLE NO ONE-HIT WONDER

Jacksonville stunned Duke on Feb. 13, but could the Dolphins do more?

The No. 10 Dolphins answered with an emphatic yes, winning at No. 15 Denver 11-9 on Saturday behind six goals from Jacob Greiner to improve to 4-1 for the season.

Greiner scored four of Jacksonville’s last five goals, including back-to-back goals late in the third quarter that broke a 6-6 tie and gave the Dolphins the lead for good. The six goals were a career-high for the redshirt sophomore.

Jack Hannah led Denver with four goals, and Jack Thompson made 18 saves to help keep the Pioneers in the game.

Logan Wisnauskas had six points on four goals and two assists in Maryland's 15-10 win over Princeton. He moved into No. 2 on Maryland's all-time scoring list.

MARYLAND CONTROLS PRINCETON

A little bit familiar, a little bit new.

Maryland downed Princeton 15-10 as veteran star Logan Wisnauskas scored four goals and added two assists to move to No. 2 on the Terps’ all-time scoring list with 262 points. He passed Matt Rambo (257) and now trails only last year’s Tewaaraton winner, Jared Bernhardt, who finished his career with 290.

Also adding four goals was the Terps’ newest weapon, grad transfer Jonathan Donville, who didn’t play at all last season when Cornell did not compete. Donville now has 12 goals in his first four Maryland games.

Maryland (4-0) also dominated faceoffs, with Luke Wierman winning 19 of 27 while also scoring twice and grabbing 11 ground balls. Sam English scored four times for Princeton (2-1), while Erik Peters made 19 saves.

RICHMOND RALLIES FOR WILD COMEBACK OVER TOWSON

After a nightmare first quarter in which it fell behind 9-1, Richmond stormed back to win a wild 16-15 triple-overtime game at Towson.

The Spiders (2-1) flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring Towson 7-1 to get within two at the break. Towson, however, maintained the lead. Will Tazewell put the Spiders up 14-13 midway through the fourth quarter. The two teams traded goals, but Nick DeMaio scored his sixth goal of the game with just one second left in regulation to force overtime.

After two scoreless overtime periods, Ryan Dunn wrapped around from behind the cage late in the third OT and scored on a jump shot to give the Spiders the win.

Lance Madonna led Richmond with six goals and Devin Craven made 21 saves, three of them in overtime.
