After the first quarter, Syracuse had a 4-2 advantage, with both Rutgers’ goals coming from Heningburg.
Casey Rose tied it for Rutgers at the 7:57 mark in the second period before Heningburg assisted Christian Mazzone for the go-ahead goal 51 seconds later.
The Orange regained the lead to start the third quarter, but the Scarlet Knights ended it with a three-goal run, including two from Heningburg, to enter the fourth quarter with a 10-8 lead.
Heningburg then sparked a four-goal run to begin the final quarter, scoring the first two and assisting on the third.
In the Syracuse win, which bumped Rutgers up seven spots to No. 11 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men's Top 20, Heningburg tied his career highs of eight points and six goals, including his 100th career goal. He now leads the team with 22 goals, 20 assists and 42 points.
