Vero Beach won its 13th consecutive district championship with a 17-8 win over Martin County, as Gabby Sposato and Maddie Ellis each tallied four goals. The Fighting Indians play Sebastian River in a first-round state play-in game on Thursday as they continue their quest to regain the state championship. 2. Hutchison (Tenn.), 11-0
The Sting continued to roll, with big wins over in-state opponent Collierville, 22-6, and Ravenwood, 20-4. Griffin Gearhardt led the way in the wins with seven goals, 13 assists and four groundballs combined. Hutchison has scored at least 20 goals in six of their wins. The Eagles were idle. They return to the field this week with a match Wednesday against highly-regarded Conestoga (Pa.), which is 5-0, and then they play Chattahoochee (Ga.) on Thursday. Previous: 3
4. North Gwinnett (Ga.), 13-0
The Bulldogs were idle last week, but resume their season Wednesday against Collins Hill (Ga.). They have several challenging games over the next two weeks, including a matchup with 10-3 Cambridge (Ga.) on April 18. Previous: 4
5. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.), 17-0
The Stallions breezed through their district tournament, knocking off St. Andrew’s 22-8 and then beating St. John Paul II 21-5 to win the championship. They play King’s Academy in a first-round state play-in game Thursday. Previous: 5
6. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.), 8-1
The Crusaders rolled with three wins last week, allowing a total of just nine goals. Notably, they had a 14-6 win over Charlotte Catholic (N.C.), which falls to 11-3. Gibbons has won four straight since its 29-game win streak ended in March. The Crusaders play twice this week. Previous: 6
7. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 16-1
The Raiders picked up the easiest win in the district semifinals when Plantation (Fla.) forfeited, but they made the championship look simple too, dominating South Plantation (Fla.), 17-1. They play Cooper City in a first-round state tournament play-in game Thursday. Previous: 7

The Trojans were off last week but they were scheduled to play highly-regarded Conestoga (Pa.) on Monday. They play at Woodstock (Ga.) on Wednesday and then go another nine days without a match. Previous: 8

The Raiders finished a swing through New York with a 15-9 loss to Yorktown, going 1-2 on the trip. Walton has six games left in the regular season and four will be against out-of-state opponents, beginning with Tuesday’s match against Conestoga (Pa.). Previous: 9
10. Episcopal Dallas (Texas), 12-0
The Eagles stayed unbeaten with wins over McKinney Club (Texas) and Southlake Carroll (Texas) last week. Charlotte North led with 13 goals, 25 draw controls and five groundballs combined over the two games. Jay Browne had five goals and three assists, Caroline Cheetham had three goals, five draw controls and six groundballs. Anna Winkler had three goals, three assists and six draw controls. The Golden Bears claimed the top spot in this week’s rankings after defeating then No. 1-ranked Loyola Academy (Ill.) 20-17 on Saturday. Junior Megan Kozar scored five goals and added two assists, and classmate Lauren Farber scored four goals. The victory followed blowouts over Thomas Worthington (Ohio) and Pickertington Central (Ohio). Previous: 2

After New Albany won by a dominating 13-2 margin against Dublin Coffman (Ohio) on April 4, the Eagles lost for the first time in 2017 in an 8-7 overtime contest against Massillon Jackson (Ohio). The Trevians were busy last week, but took care of business, easily defeating Maine South (Ill.), Glenbrook South (Ill.) and Naperville North (Ill.). Katherine Gjertsen, a future midfielder at Stanford University, had five goals in New Trier’s win over Naperville North. Previous: 6

The Falcons take over the top spot after adding two more wins last week to remain undefeated, including a notable 10-6 decision over No. 6 Mater Dei (Calif.) behind Kelli McKinnon’s three goals. Apparently it was a week for upsets in the West. Just like the boys’ No. 1 team went down in surprising fashion, the Hornets fell, 10-9, against Davis (Calif.) – a surprising result considering the tests Novato already passed with flying colors. They had won three games earlier in the week, including handing San Ramon Valley (Calif.) a 20-5 loss for just its second defeat this season. They look to bounce back with a three-game swing in Oregon this week. Previous: 1
3. Colorado Academy (Colo.), 5-1
Sydney Prokupek and Lauren Russell each scored five goals as the Mustangs beat Mullen (Colo.) 18-2 on April 5. Colorado also beat Rocky Mountain, 19-6, and St. Mary’s (Colo.) 18-2 last week. The Mustangs were scheduled to play at Centarus (Colo.) on Monday. Previous: 4

The Wildcats just couldn’t get to Easter Break quick enough, as they dropped their fourth loss in five games during a tough stretch in the schedule. They went 1-1 last week with a 13-12 win over a strong Amador Valley (Calif.) squad but fell 9-8 in overtime against sub-.500 Carondelet (Calif.) they had previously beaten. Emma Knaus, Catriona Barry and Anna Clarke each had four goals against Amador, while Barry added three assists and seven draw controls, and Darby Read led the team with three goals in the loss to Carondelet. The Monarchs went 1-1 last week with the 10-6 loss to Torrey Pines following a 10-7 win over Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.). Grace Houser was leading the team with 43 goals going into last week. In their only game last week, the Lakers had no problem turning aside Clackamas (Ore.), earning a 15-3 win on the road to follow a three-game stint in Florida the week prior. The Grizzlies collected their fifth straight win before heading into an eight-day break, beating Granite Bay (Calif.) 18-12 on April 4. Marissa Leonardi led the team with seven goals, while Ashley Ward had a solid all-around game with two goals, three assists, five groundballs and two takeaways. The Eagles went 3-0 last week, outscoring their opponents 59-18.
