There's a new General atop the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Women's Top 20.
Washington and Lee ascends to the top spot following its 17-6 win at Lynchburg and losses by Gettysburg, The College of New Jersey and Brockport, last week's Nos. 1-3 teams, respectively. On Thursday, the Bullets dropped a 7-6 decision at home to TCNJ, which gave the Lions a nice bounce-back after falling at home to Middlebury Monday. Gettysburg may have remained in a malaise Saturday in an 8-7 Centennial Conference loss at Muhlenberg.
The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, Wednesday let the second half get away from them in a 13-9 home loss to then-No. 13 St. John Fisher.
Franklin & Marshall and Ithaca each picked up two wins last week to move up to Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. With W&L off until April 15 for winter term exams, it will be interesting to see if squads pick up quality wins this week to adjust the rankings.

HOT
Washington and Lee (+3)
The Generals ascend to No. 1, completing a journey begun as an unranked squad in the preseason. They won at Lynchburg, 17-6, Saturday for their fifth straight win, but are now in the midst of a two-week break. Washington and Lee finishes with five straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference foes, none of which is ranked as of this week. Will strength of schedule catch the Generals?
NOT
Wesleyan (-5)
The Cardinals' 12-6 loss at Colby Sunday marked their third straight defeat in games against ranked foes, each of which by a minimum of four goals. Wesleyan enjoyed some quality wins to start the season, and a challenging NESCAC slate to close the season will give it opportunities to reverse a downward trend.
