The first in-season report for the Nike/US Lacrosse South Boys' Top 10 is here – and there is a new No. 1.

1. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 6-0

The defending state champion Raiders move into the top spot after stretching their unbeaten streak to 25 games, including a notable win over Lake Highland Prep (Fla.) on Feb. 17, behind Jimmy Harrington’s six goals. They play 5-1 Lake Mary on Friday.

2. Lambert (Ga.), 3-0

The defending Class 6A champion Longhorns rolled to a 13-1 win over Northview (Ga.) on Feb. 24 and have allowed just six goals in their first three games. This week features big games against No. 9 Centennial on Tuesday and defending 1-5A champion Allatoona on Thursday.

3. Highland Park (Texas), 2-0

The Scots opened the season with a 13-2 win over Westlake on Feb. 18 and came out hot Monday against Allen, despite an eight-day layoff between games. Owen Seebold had three goals and two assists by halftime, as HP took an 11-2 lead.

4. Ponte Vedra (Fla.), 4-0

The Sharks picked up an 18-8 win over Bolles (Fla.) on Feb. 21 to stay undefeated. They have a busy week and wrap it up with a Saturday game against unbeaten IMG Academy.

5. Lassiter (Ga.), 1-0

The Trojans were idle after opening the season with an 8-4 win over Blessed Trinity on Feb. 16. They return to action Thursday against St. Pius X (Ga.).

6. Memphis University School (Tenn.), 0-0

The defending state champion Owls open the season against 2016 Louisiana state champion Jesuit-New Orleans on March 4.

7. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.), 0-0

The Crusaders open the season March 1 against Northern Durham, the first of four in-state games before the schedule gets really tough with seven out-of-state games before the end of the year.

8. Centennial (Ga.), 3-0

The Knights are on fire, scoring 88 goals in their first three games while allowing just five. They shut out Mays (Ga.) 29-0 with help from Colin Hall’s seven goals. They get a big test this week against defending 6A champ Lambert.

9. The Woodlands (Texas), 5-0

The Highlanders slide into the rankings after handing defending state champion Dallas Jesuit (Texas) its first loss of the season, an 11-9 decision on Feb. 18.  The Rangers led 5-4 at halftime before the tide changes in the second half.

10. Pope (Ga.), 4-0

The Greyhounds opened the season with a statement, knocking off 2016 Class 1A-5A champion Allatoona, 11-6, on Feb. 15 and continue to roll. They added another impressive win over small-school power Westminster (Ga.) on Feb. 25.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Colin Hall, Centennial (Ga.)

The junior attackman scored 14 goals combined in the team’s two wins last week. Hall, who scored 68 goals as a sophomore, had seven goals against Norcross (Ga.) and seven goals and an assist against Mays (Ga.).
