This week, Division II men’s lacrosse almost entirely becomes whole. The NE-10 and the Sunshine State Conference both have games scheduled for this week, which means the top two teams (Tampa and Le Moyne) are in action.

As for this past week, the battle out West continues to encompass most of the changes in the rankings. Lindenwood topped Indianapolis by seven goals, allowing the Lions to jump in this week’s rankings. So far, the only team unscathed out of that bunch is Maryville.

Also notable: Queens (N.C.) picked up an upset win over a hot Wingate team, getting an Austin Leonard overtime goal to seal the victory.

HOT

Queens (+5)

After a disappointing start to the season that included losses to Mount Olive and Belmont Abbey, Queens picked up its biggest win of the season, scoring the final five goals of regulation to storm back and force overtime, where Leonard capped a huge comeback win.

Maryville (+3)

Maryville has proven to be the best of the West so far in 2021, knocking off both Lindenwood and Rockhurst en route to a 4-0 record. Two straight meetings with Indianapolis await in a few weeks, but the Saints have put themselves in a great position in the GLVC.

NOT

Wingate (-5)

Wingate had rolled to a 5-0 record before meeting Queens (N.C.), and it had that matchup all but sealed in the fourth quarter. A team known for defense allowed 15 goals to Coker and 13 goals to Queens before settling back down with a 20-8 win over Anderson.

IN

Frostburg (No. 20)

Wait, isn’t Frostburg in Division III? In case you missed it, Frostburg was officially accepted as a Division II program in July of 2019. With the 2020 season mostly wiped out due to COVID-19 — one which it went 5-0 — Frostburg is now 2-0 in its first full year as a Division II team. A light March schedule could make this team a factor come late in the spring.

OUT

Rockhurst (was No. 16)

Back-to-back losses to Indianapolis and Maryville, where the Hawks scored eight goals in each game, keeps Rockhurst on the outside looking in this week. Sam Lindahl, Alec Heflin and Kai Trujillo are at the top of the scoring charts, but this team could use a big offensive outing against Lindenwood on Saturday.
