Knobloch Delivers OT Win for Chaos, Balanced Outlaws Beat Waterdogs

Blaze Riorden’s 18th save early in overtime set the stage for Shane Knobloch, a rookie and Andy Towers’ target in the Premier Lacrosse League College Draft regardless of how it shook out, made good on his coach’s trust.

The Rutgers alum delivered the winner for the Carolina Chaos with 9:48 left in the extra frame, giving the Chaos a 10-9 win over the Maryland Whipsnakes in Fairfield, N.J.

The Chaos led by as much as 8-4 in the third quarter, but Maryland largely controlled the final quarter-plus, tying the score at 9 on Levi Anderson’s goal with 3:30 left in regulation.

With Riorden denying chance after chance, though, Carolina remained in the game and rode his final save into Knobloch’s winner.

DENVER 15, PHILADELPHIA 13

An eight-point third quarter, including a pair of two-point goals by Graham Bundy Jr., lifted the Outlaws to a much-needed win over the Waterdogs.

Philadelphia led 7-5 at halftime, on the strength of three scores by Connor Kelly. Denver opened the third quarter with four goals (one two-pointer) to flip the advantage its way.

Zach Currier cut the deficit to 14-13 late in the fourth quarter with a two-point goal, but long-time Outlaws legend Eric Law quelled the possible comeback attempt with a goal of his own.

Dalton Young and Brennan O'Neill each scored three times in the win. Bundy had three goals, too, with two of them coming from distance.
