The sleeping giant has awakened.

Unranked Princeton scored 10 unanswered goals en route to an 18-7 blowout of No. 3 Johns Hopkins, the Tigers’ largest margin of victory in a series that dates back to 1890.

U.S. U19 gold medalists Austin Sims and Michael Sowers combined for 11 points in the win. Sims, the Team USA co-captain, finished with a game-high six goals, including this gem to beat a triple-team.

Princeton (3-1), which was coming off of a 10-8 loss to Hofstra, dominated possession thanks largely to Zach Currier’s 15-for-19 faceoff performance. Currier added three assists and 10 ground balls.

The Tigers shot a blistering 35.3 percent from the field, forcing Blue Jays starting goalie Gerald Logan out of the game just a week after Logan’s 16 saves keyed Johns Hopkins’ victory over defending NCAA champion North Carolina. Princeton goalie Tyler Blaisdell made 16 saves.
