Now that we know the Premier Lacrosse League’s plan for the summer — a 20-game, 16-day tournament without fans — it’s time to dissect each roster and see who could be favored in this unique format.

Through the end of next week, US Lacrosse Magazine will unveil previews for each of the seven lacrosse clubs. Check back each day to learn more about another team.

Atlas

2019 regular season record: 5-5 (score diff: -7)
Last seen: A 25-7 blowout loss to Archers in the First Draft Pick Game

Overview

There’s plenty of star power on this roster, and more than just Paul Rabil and (now) Rob Pannell. Ryan Brown is likely the best shooter in the world. Trevor Baptiste is the preeminent faceoff specialist in the field game. Jack Concannon proved he’s one of the best goalies in the league. Conner Buczek, Tucker Durkin, Joel Tinney and Kyle Hartzell are just a handful of other stars with big games and big personalities.

Wins against the Redwoods and Chaos in the second half of the season seemed to all but guarantee the Atlas a playoff spot, until the Redwoods snatched it from them during the final week. Under new head coach Ben Rubeor, perhaps Atlas can take the next step.

Losses

Kieran McArdle (A), Noah Richard (D), Steven DeNapoli (SSDM), Ryan Conrad (M)

Additions

Rob Pannell (A), Craig Chick (D/LSM), Romar Dennis (M), Ben Rubeor (head coach)

Burning question
How will Rob Pannell fit into the offense?

Pannell teams up with former New York Lizards teammate Paul Rabil after sliding to the No. 3 pick in the entry draft.

These guys coexisted on offense in the MLL, even though both players command the ball quite a bit. They played together with the Lizards from 2015-18, each scoring at least 45 points in all four seasons. In their first year together, they won an MLL championship.

The last time we saw them together, Pannell led the MLL with 78 points, and Rabil chipped in 45.
