The Premier Lacrosse League announced five locations for the upcoming 2020 season and promised to have the full schedule public in the next two weeks.

On Aug. 1-2, the league will play in Portland, Ore., to play at Providence Park. It will be the league’s first weekend in the Pacific Northwest.

“Since we began working on the PLL, we’ve recognized how important the Pacific Northwest market was for us,” PLL co-founder and CMO Paul Rabil said. “As a player and operator, I’ve witnessed both the rapid growth in participation and popularity in Portland, and our partners at Providence Park have developed a world-class venue that entertains the fans of the [Portland] Timbers and Thorns. We’re confident we can replicate that atmosphere, bringing fans from Portland, Seattle, and even Vancouver, closer to the best players and game in the world.”

A second new location — Raleigh, N.C. — was formally announced for the weekend of Aug. 8-9.

“We are thankful to the team at WakeMed Soccer Park for giving us a gorgeous venue to showcase the PLL and give our fans the best lacrosse-viewing experience possible,” PLL co-founder and CEO Mike Rabil said. “North Carolina is a state that has been yearning for pro lacrosse, where residents in the area continue to vocalize their support of the PLL. We’re eager to bring the best game and players in the world to an anticipated energizing crowd at WakeMed.”

The PLL also announced a third new location, as it will head to Salt Lake City, Utah, on Aug. 21-22. Games will be played at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.

“As we looked at expanding to new strategic markets for the new season, Salt Lake City was an area that jumped out to us right away,” Mike Rabil said. “PLL keeps a strong presence in Utah that is anchored by Archers LC stars and University of Utah coaches, Marcus Holman, Will Manny and Adam Ghitelman. We’ve seen firsthand both the vocal support and growing infrastructure that the professional game needs in Utah to succeed well into the future. Additionally, the fabulous team at Rio Tinto Stadium has been with us every step of the way as we plan for this summer’s game weekend. We’re ready to go.”
