A Premier Lacrosse League game between the Archers and Cannons last Saturday saw a record-setting audience tune into ABC, according to ESPN.

The league’s media rights partner announced Thursday that the sport’s first appearance on ABC since the 1977 NCAA championship game between Cornell and Johns Hopkins drew an average of 452,000 viewers with a peak viewership of 623,000 — making it the most viewed professional outdoor lacrosse game in history and the most viewed pro game, period, since the 2005 National Lacrosse League championship.

Those tuning in were treated to a masterful performance by the Archers, with Will Manny (5G, 3A), Tom Schreiber (3G, 4A) and Matt Moore (3G, 3A) leading the charge in a 20-9 victory.
