There were no changes at the top in this week’s WCLA (Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Associates) Division I and II coaches polls, with Pittsburgh and Utah State maintaining the No. 1 spots, respectively.
UCLA, BYU, Michigan Club and Cal Poly round out the top five in the Division I ranking.
Stanford, Loyola Club, Denver Club and St. Thomas complete the top five in the Division II poll.
No. 6 Virginia Tech Club was one of the biggest Division I movers, jumping three spots this week after posting wins over No. 10 Duke Club and No. 12 North Carolina Club. In addition, four other members of the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Lacrosse League (MAWLL) moved into the poll this week: UNC, No. 13 James Madison Club, No. 17 Maryland Club, and No. 18 Penn State Club.
In Division II, defending champion Loyola Club, not ranked last week, debuted at third after opening the year with wins over Drexel, Penn, and Temple.
No. 8 Nevada-Reno made the largest jumped of the week, moving up 12 spots following weekend road wins at No. 2 Stanford and unranked Chico State.
The WCLA features 230 Division I and Division II non-varsity teams that compete under the US Lacrosse umbrella. The 2019 season will conclude with the US Lacrosse WCLA D-I and D-II national championships in Virginia Beach, May 8-11.
